This campaign aims to establish September 16 as International Identity Day to underline the fundamental importance of identity. This day is highly symbolic, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16.9, which aims to provide a legal identity for everyone by 2030.

Since the creation of International Identity Day in 2018, IDEMIA has been a strong supporter of the initiative. The 2024 theme—celebrating the right to be visible—is an important reminder that what some of us might take for granted is still out of reach for 850 million people worldwide: 850 million people who still lack a legal identity, leaving them invisible to society. IDEMIA Smart Identity supports a collective action to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be included, protected, and empowered through a legal identity.
