TSA enrollment and airport security checkpoint solutions

Since 2013, IDEMIA has been an official and authorized enrollment services provider to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the TSA PreCheck® traveler pre-screening program. In addition, the TSA has been using IDEMIA’s Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) at airport security checkpoints in approximately 120 airports around the United States since 2019. These interoperable, scalable solutions help innovate checkpoint security for frictionless, secure operations that contribute to a more seamless traveler experience.

TSA PreCheck enrollment

The TSA PreCheck program is a trusted traveler program that provides low-risk travelers with a smoother experience at airport security checkpoints. The program is open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. To date, IDEMIA has processed 19M+ enrollments in 630+ TSA PreCheck enrollment centers across the U.S.

TSA PreCheck is a great option for travelers looking to save time during the airport security screening process. Enrolled members can travel with ease with no need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts, or light jackets. As members of the frequent traveler program, they can access dedicated screening lanes at 200+ participating U.S. airports.

IDEMIA also provides enrollment for other TSA programs:

• The Hazardous Materials Endorsement Threat Assessment Program (HME)/HAZMAT Endorsement, for any driver seeking to obtain, renew or transfer a hazardous materials endorsement on a state-issued commercial driver’s license;
• The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) program which includes workers who access secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels;
• The Flight Training Security Program (FTSP), for fingerprint capture services as part of the application process.

Credential Authentication Technology (CAT)

IDEMIA has worked with the TSA on creating and manufacturing the Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) solution to streamline the traveler experience. TSA utilizes this solution to ensure ID authentication*, reservation verification and Secure Flight pre-screening status are known at the airport security checkpoint. CAT is an effective tool for TSA officers, providing enhanced fraudulent ID detection capabilities while confirming the identity and flight information of travelers, and is currently being utilized at approximately 120 airport locations.

IDEMIA also worked with TSA to implement for the first time the acceptance of mobile state IDs and driver’s licenses at airport security checkpoints. IDEMIA is playing a crucial role in enabling this technology as the supplier of the TSA’s CAT readers and Mobile ID partner of several US States.
