IDEMIA Public Security to demonstrate IATA’s Contactless Travel Directory at the 2025 Passenger Terminal Expo

The Contactless Travel Directory is designed to facilitate travel by easing airline access to biometric services

IDEMIA Public Security, a world leader in digital technologies, biometrics, and security, is delighted to be among the first technology providers to demonstrate the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) Contactless Travel Directory, which is designed to ease airline access to biometric services.

In line with IDEMIA Public Security’s vision to elevate the traveler experience with seamless and interoperable processing while ensuring the highest level of confidence and data protection/privacy, this directory will power a matchmaking service to help airlines identify and offer contactless travel at specific airports, including with their partner airlines.

As a leading biometric and identity management provider, IDEMIA Public Security will demonstrate the use of this directory at the upcoming Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE), taking place in Madrid from April 8-10, 2025, where delegates will be able to enroll during check in for fictitious flights, then pass through the biometric touchpoints at IDEMIA’s booth (#9625), as one would in a real airport.

We are excited to demonstrate the IATA’s Contactless Travel Directory to further enable contactless travel using IDEMIA’s advanced and secure biometric-based technologies. IDEMIA is deeply committed towards streamlining the travel process for travelers across the globe, and we’re excited to continue our work with IATA, as a long-standing strategic partner, to continue increasing the adoption of contactless travel across the world.
Tim Ferris, Senior Vice President, Travel & Transport, IDEMIA Public Security

The IATA’s Contactless Travel Directory will feature a single reference point, traveler eligibility information, and technical protocols with a standardized approach to ease the adoption of biometric services and facilitate travel.

The release of the Contactless Travel Directory will make it easier for airlines to expand biometric service opportunities for their customers. As travellers expect ever greater efficiency, biometric recognition technology is taking on a growing role in facilitating travel. This directory, along IATA’s One ID initiative, aim to accelerate that transition with critical data and global standards.
Nick Careen, Senior Vice President, Operations, Safety and Security
